ASSEDO's Library, according to one of her former casino managers, Guido Schmidt, was very little changed over the years, unlike the other public spaces, which were considerably revamped during the ship's numerous refits.

UPDATE: This particular panel was displayed in the library on board SHOTA RUSTAVELI/ASSEDO and depicts a Russian paddlewheel steamer. The setting is most likely the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk and the vessel is most probably the SV. NIKOLAI, which brought Lenin down the Yenisey River when he was exiled there by the Tsarist government. Many thanks to Bill Worden for shedding more light on this interesting piece of Soviet maritime history!

This panel is hand carved and painted and the style is very typical of the late 1960s when ASSEDO was built. There are some water stains from exposure in India which can be cleaned up with some professional care. The panel, itself is solid wood (oak?) and not typical plywood. A most interesting and unusual piece!
