All the way until the ship was beached at Alang, the captain's office was a magnificent space and largely unchanged from the Union-Castle TRANSVAAL CASTLE days. There was rich wood paneling and many John Brown fixtures as well as high backed chairs and a Regency style sofa. Mixed in amongst the British-built finery were some cabinets with very sturdy 1970s Carnival style faux veneers built by the joiner onboard, Mr. Carmine Laudonia. This one was in the captain's bedroom, which I was not able to photograph, but is very much like the other one listed. It is extremely heavy and solid, and while the veneer is not real wood, retains a rustic look. The knobs are brass and it is in very good condition. The black marks on the front can be easily removed with a proper cleaner. Unfortunately, when I last visited my storage unit to photograph these before they were buried behind new items, I did not have any cleaner on hand. Mea culpa. There are two of these and once they are gone, that is it for this phase of the ship's career and cabinets.

Kind thanks to Ron Ness, currently the hotel director on Carnival's MV INSPIRATION, for the story behind these cabinets.
