The scanner is non-responsive, otherwise, I'd have posted a couple nice Cunard brochure images of these dressers when they were brand new. They have a particularly nice early 60's shape with the curved top and provincial, grooved side "pillars" painted black with brass ring insets. These were very typical of the Jean Munro look given the FRANCONIA and CARMANIA in Cunard's 1962/3 effort to update them into contemporary cruise ships from their modest combiliner beginnings. Undoubtedly, they were very successful, having remained in their Cunard configuration for three decades, including the ships' subsequent careers as FEDOR SHALYAPIN and LEONID SOBINOV, respectively

This was the best example of these cabinets I rescued from the ship. With special thanks to Shawn Dake, who spent weeks restoring this particular cabinet to its original finery. Posted: August 9, 2010.
