35 pounds of solid brass and marble support these strikingly geometric and eye-catching lamp shades! These sturdy fixtures have endured the test of time, removal at Alang and shipping to California. There were a pair of red ones in the SS HAMBURG's forward observation lounge, best known as the Rossiya Lounge during the ship's long incarnation as MAXIM GORKIY. They are solidly built and in excellent condition, although there are tiny dings and cracks in the acrylic shades that one would expect from 40 years of use in a public space. They will also need to be rewired to conform to land-based electrical requirements. These were made for the ship by Licht-Zentrale August Kaiser of Kaiser Essen, Germany. A small coat of arms sticker was appllied to the red square on one side of the lamp and can be removed if so desired.

The yellow lamps graced the Hamburg's beautiful Alster Club Bar with its rich wood veneers and ensemble of suede artworks by Kristin Koschad-Hote (coming soon!). The outer edge of the room was framed with full length windows facing the sea and the ceiling was distinctively barrel shaped. Even in its slightly revised latter days, it was a Maritime MidCentury maven's haven!
