When the EMPRESS OF CANADA became Carnival Cruises' MARDI GRAS, her first class Mayfair Room was converted into the Showboat Club Casino. Its lovely, glowing woodwork was covered in tinfoil wallpaper while slots and roulette tables replaced the quaint, enduring CP furniture. Some traces of the room's original glamor remained, however, including the domed ceiling, the etched glass screen aft, and the gorgeous deco-styled brass ringed fittings on the stair landings and over the aft entryways. These rings were emulated by famed "In House" Carnival architect Joseph Farcus when he designed the casino counter top grills offered here.

These are surprisingly well made and did meld nicely within the motif of the otherwise vastly restyled room. Royal Olympic eliminated most of the gaming equipment when the ship became APOLLO and restored the room to some of its former beauty by toning down the Carnival color schemes. I am offering them "as is", meaning they are in very good condition but not polished up. However, in the following photos, you can see what a little Brite Boy can do in making these interesting fixtures shine up once again.
