P&O Line Rising Sun "STRATH" Knives (Nearly Sold Out) and Forks Items from MV MARIANNA VI (ex AUREOL) Photo and copyright Peter Knego 2007.
Heavy Silver Plate by Mappin and Webb P&O Line 1930s Through 1950s Vintage 8 Inch Knives and 7 Inch Forks $7.50 Each Close up of the knife handle. Photo and copyright Peter Knego 2007.
All of the Latsis ships were museums to the very end, and the MARIANNA VI was no exception. When Latsis bought her from Elder Dempster Line, she was basically sold, lock, stock and barrel. The crockery, linens, silver, and signage was from the ship's AUREOL era with a few old former and current Latsis ships' items thrown in (such as Royal Mail Line silver from one of the ex HIGHLAND ships and crockery and linens from the old P&O STRATHS, DFDS' ENGLAND, and even Peter Deilmann's REGINA MARIS).
Indeed, like some of the blankets on MidShipCentury, these lovely P&O pieces came from the former STRATHEDEN and STRATHMORE, which Latsis sold for scrap a few years before he acquired the AUREOL. Their stores were brought out of storage and used on AUREOL during her MARIANNA VI period at Jeddah.

These Mappin and Webb, Sheffield pieces are being sold "as is" and are in good condition with a few dings and some heavy tarnish from years of use and subsequent layup in Greece. So buy plenty of silver polish and get ready to make them shine again! Supplies are extremely limited and I will sell what I think are the ones in best condition first.
There are only three knives left as of August 1, 2007. Plenty of forks, however...
