Measurements: 19.5 Inches Tall by 15 Inches Wide
Price: $150 USD plus shipping ***THIS ITEM IS SOLD***
Very little survived of the original SS STATENDAM after her many conversions. Over the years, her wonderful murals and heavy wooden Dutch furniture were replaced with more contemporary works of art and modern, ordinary furniture. The last havens of the ship's 1950s glory days were the Cinema, the Indoor Pool, portions of the stairtowers and lobbies, and most of the former first class suites.

Various views. Photos and copyright Peter Knego 2007.
These round ottomans were located in the former STATENDAM's cabins and date from her debut in 1957. They were covered over in Regency Cruise Line's ubiquitous purple vinyl at some point after she became REGENT STAR. I believe the original upholstery was a beige cotton or wool. I bought all seven that survived the ship's scrapping and sold most of them before I could get them on the site. This is the last and only one I have for sale on MidShipCentury.
The ottoman was repaired at some point (see underside image for a view of where the leg on the upper right was reglued). There is a small piece in the top wood trim that was apparently replaced, too. And, finally, on the underside, there is a missing bit of wood. Nonetheless, it is a very beautiful piece of furniture with a lot of history behind it.
