There were two pairs of these beautiful doors in the OLYMPIA's Forward Main Deck lobby, one on each side. This pair is from the port side. These are the first doors one would pass through once inside the ship's shell doors, as an embarking first class passenger on the OLYMPIA. They are also what one would pass through first on the REGAL EMPRESS in her final years of cruising from Ft. Lauderdale. They were meant to give a memorable impression and succeeded on every level. The veneer is that gorgeous English Figured Sycamore found throughout the lobby and in the stairtowers and the band along the bottom is mahogany. The oval windows are framed in anodized aluminum and the glass is textured and beveled.

These doors and their frame are in remarkable condition, although the glass in the right hand door was cracked at some point late in the ship's career. All part of the enduring life story of the SS OLYMPIA/MV CARIBE I/MV REGAL EMPRESS.
