If only I had the time to strip, stain and revarnish these little treasures! Unfortunately, I don't, so the image of them covered in that awful Philippine-inflicted mahogany paint will have to do. On the bright side, the paint actually helped preserve the integrity of the veneer underneath as it would have not done well in the heat and humidity over the decades.
These are handsome little end tables from the AUGUSTUS passenger accommodation and only one pair will be available. The open shelves next to and underneath the drawers are so typically Italian. There were similar furnishings on the Lloyd Triestino ships of the same era.
